About Course

Many architecture students waste hours and hours of hard work by editing their CAD drawings, diagrams, and maps in Photoshop instead of Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator’s purpose is for editing vector drawings, meaning it can yield high-quality vector visuals without the need to be rasterized.

In this course, you will learn how to use Illustrator as an architecture student. You will learn how to create vector maps, diagrams, sections, and icons since it is essential to learn how to post produce your vector drawings without rasterizing them.

Course Outline:

  • Introducing Illustrator: Interface + Navigation
  • Importing vector files into Illustrator
  • Understanding the different tools
  • Adjusting line weights and color schemes
  • Creating brushes and patterns
  • Tracing Elements manually and automatically

  • Navigating the program and customizing the interface
  • The advantages of learning Illustrator as an architecture student
  • Creating an efficient workflow to post-produce your drawings and visuals
  • Creating complex shapes and editing them

  • Opening file/ New file/ Open/ Import
  • Basic interface, navigation tools, shortcuts
  • Main toolbars, essential tools (basic tour) (customization)(workspaces)
  • Drawing shapes/ drawing lines
  • Transformation, Selection, Alignment tools
  • Pathfinder vs shape builder tools
  • Curves, pen tool (anchor points) (direct selection tool)
  • Text settings/ creataing outlines
